Tolerance is the process of determining the amount a part can vary.
Basic size- the exact theoretical size of a dimension.
Tolerance- the amount a dimension can vary from the basic size.
Feature- used to identify the geometry of the drawing being referenced.
Limits- The max. and min. allowable size.
Allowance- the limits where the smallest clearance or largest interface occurs.
MMC- the limit of a dimension where the max. material is left on the part.
LMC- The limit of a dimension where the least amount of material is left on the part.
Clearance- All dimension combinations will produce clearance between parts.
Interference- All combinations of dimension will produce a force fit.
Transistional- Different combinations of dimensions will produce different kinds of fits.
